According to a report from China National Radio’s Jingdezhen bureau on October 18 (reported by journalist Xun Kangxin and correspondent Wu Guoqing), on October 14, tea-picking machines were operating efficiently on the tea hills of Changnan Tea in Fuliang County, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. Two tea farmers precisely controlled the equipment, with rotating blades snipping off tender buds just like combing hair. Meanwhile, tea farmers at the rear swiftly exchanged collection bags, ensuring that fresh leaves were promptly transported to the processing plant.
“Starting in mid-September, we’ll begin the autumn tea harvest, with daily processing capacity exceeding 15,000 jin of fresh leaves, which will be used to produce high-end organic matcha ingredients. We estimate that this season alone will boost our output value by 800,000 yuan,” said Qian Junhong, production supervisor at Changnan.
After undergoing processes such as tooth-cutting, fixation, and rolling, the fresh leaves are transformed into finished products that meet export standards. Xu Hao, deputy director of the Fuliang County Tea Industry Development Center, said that this year, Fuliang County’s summer and autumn tea production is expected to exceed 9,500 tons, accounting for more than 60% of the county’s total annual output. The increase in export volume has driven up unit prices, further boosting tea farmers’ enthusiasm and injecting new momentum into the tea industry.
